The monastery of Saghmosavank dates back to 1215 when the church of St. Sion was founded by prince Vache Vachutian. The monastery complex was enlarged by adding spatious narthex (around 1250) and the book depository (1255) which was attached to the little church of St. Godmother (1235).
The monastery of Tegher is situated in the village carrying the same name. St. Astvatsatsin church was built in 1213, and the narthex was attached to its western side in 1221.
